Norma Helmick (Burks)
Retired Divorced 2
After graduation, I worked for various attorneys. I married Jerry Burks (Class of 1962) in 1966. We have two lovely daughters, Stephanie (45) and Margaret Ann (42). Jerry and I divorced in 1982. I have one grandson, Zachary, who is finishing his first year as a member of the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech. We are all great Hokie fans.
I relocated from Hampton to Isle of Wight County in 2000, back to where I was born, and have become a country girl. I retired after 23 years with the City of Hampton (The American Theatre), and am enjoying a semi-retired life. I work a part-time job to keep me out of trouble and getting up and out at least three days a week.
I am happy and am thankful for what God has given me.

Contractor Committed Relationship 3
50 years and counting !!
Less hair and more aches and pains !
They say bald men don't waste their hormones on hair--we shall see !
After three sons , four grand kids and one great grand child I need a rest !
Glad to have all of them although at times it can be hectic. After we left 'Typhoon Land" I went to the Apprentice School and missed Viet Nam by three days. Dumb luck and by the grace of God I suppose.
Left the shipyard in 1976 to go into business full time as a landscape and irrigation contractor and have been doing that ever since.
Should retire but working on the next 50 years !!
Looking forward to seeing all at the reunion

Administrative Assistance - Retired Single Again 3
I now live in Kernersville, NC, a few miles from Greensboro. I moved from Newport News, VA to Kernersville, NC in 1977. I married another Jackson in 1968 (no relation to first husband). We seperated in 1995 and remain seperated.
I have been employed by a survey company and a pool construction company in Kernersville. I later went to work for the County of Forsyth, in Winston-Salem as an administrative assistance and retired in 2011. I first lived in a large colonial home, raised three children there, then when they were grown, downsized to a townhome with my Bichon Gigi, my constant companion.
Tarveling abroad with friends has occupied much of my leisure, and has provided me with a great deal of pleasure and companionship. We have made three trips to Europe, each time visiting different countiries in Western Europe and North Africa. We also have made several trips to the western US and nearby Canadian provinces.
Socially, I have been very active as an officer in the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the United Methodist Women. Much of my time at home when not travling, reading or hiking has been devoted to membership in the Triad Quilt Guild. I have been honored with several awards for my quilt work in display exhibits.
My greatest joy remains in my three children and five grandchildren.

Retired..City of Hampton Fire and Rescue Married 3
After graduation, I went to Virginia Tech for two years before going into the USAF where I spent 3 1/2 years. After discharge I had always wanted to be a Firefighter as was my Dad. I spent 25 years in the Hampton Fire and Rescue and retired in 1995. I then pursued a full time career as a Realtor and worked for JoAnn Davis and Greg Garrett. That took a lot of my time so I decided to retire from that and build a beach cottage on the Outer Banks in Nags Head where we spend a lot of time.
I lost my wife, Dell, to cancer in 2007 after 34 years of a very happy marriage and we had two sons, Cole and John. I met my current wife on Match.com and we were married in Aug. 2008. She had been widowed twice and graduated from Ferguson HS in 1970.
I can`t believe it`s been 50 years and look forward to seeing everyone!
biochemist/environmental consultant Married 2
Boy 50 years has zipped by quickly!!. It just seems like yesterday when we were all roaming the halls of NNHS.
First of all I would like to remember Ms. Dorothy Crane who had an enormous influence on the direction of my life. I will never forget her enduring patience with me.
After NNHS I attended Anderson College in Anderson, IN and received a BA in Chemistry in 1967. Then on to Purdue University where I earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 1971. Spent two years as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution’s Radiation Biology Laboratory in Rockville, MD. I then had to go out and find a real job. This took me to Philadelphia where I worked as a Senior Residue and Metabolism Chemist for Rohm and Haas until 1976. In 1976, I joined Ciba-Geigy Corporation (now Syngenta) in Greensboro, NC and worked there as a Senior Metabolism Chemist and Senior Environmental Scientist for 13 years. In 1990 I gave up the posh corporate life to form the Hazard Evaluation and Regulatory Affairs Company (HERAC), a field research and consulting organization which performs field research on exposure of farmers and migrant workers to pesticides. Currently I consult for 28 international agrochemical companies on design and implementation of field exposure research. Still going strong at 68!!
I have two children Olivia 38 and Kenny 35. Olivia is currently in Austin, TX working on a Masters in Asian Medicine. Kenny is at the University of Montana working on a Masters in Wildlife Biology. Millie my sweet wife of 23 years has two sons Brian 49 and Mark 47. Brain works as a Scientific Data Auditor for Quality Associates in MD. Brian has three sons (Tony 28, Chris 26, and Jamie 22). For the past several years, Millie and I have enjoyed one or the other grandson playing football at the high school, college and professional level. Mark is a Regional Sales Manager for Forshaw Distribution Company in Charlotte, NC and has two daughters (Lauren 23 and Rachel 21). Lauren is a past Homecoming Queen at Appalachian State and works at a public relations firm. Rachel is a sophomore at App State. We have enjoyed watching Rachel play a lot of basketball. We have one great grandchild (Kal 2 years). We have enjoyed many years with our children and grandchildren and look for every opportunity to have a party to get all the kids back together.
I wish you all well in the future.

Outfitting business www.chamariveroutfitters.com Divorced 3
Hi yuall, great to hear from my classmates from NNHS. I will not be able to attend our 50th reunion.
October is my busy time of the year. I am in the outfitting business in northern New Mexico and those dates are the middle of our Elk and Bear seasons. I do wish I could be there to see you guys. My business web site is www.chamariveroutfitters.com.
I am not retired yet but those mountains are getting higher and my legs are getting more tired than they were 40 years ago.
After graduating from NNHS I played baseball for the Hampton Royals and just goofed off for a couple of years, then joined the Air Force (Air Comandos) and ended up in Albuquerque, NM. After getting out of the Wind Force, I took a job with Univac selling computers, also attended classes at the University of New Mexico, got married, had two kids, one boy and one girl, several years later, got divorced. She tought I hunted too much. After several years got married again and have been married this time for 33 years.. We have one son, he's a cdoctor with the University of Texas Medical Center in Tyler, TX.
We have owned several businesses such as software house, sold it, contracting business selling and installing high tech security systems to places like Los Alamos National Lab, home of the first atom bomb, Sandia National Lab, and Air Force Special Weapons Lab, and etc. Sold that business and started Chama River Outfitters, for the past 25 years business has been very good to us.
Lost my daughter in August 2008 to carbon monoxide poisoning.
